THE DIALOGUE JOURNAL

EMPLOYEE JOURNAL

A guided 12-week reflective tool that helps employees explore meaning, purpose, and wellbeing at work.

  • Weekly Prompts: Each week focuses on a structured theme — from values and motivation, to voice, fairness, and connection — guiding employees to reflect for just 10 minutes.

  • Monthly Deep Dives: At the end of each 4-week block, employees complete a deeper reflection on how these themes affect their real workplace experience. This encourages insight into what’s working, what’s not, and where trust or alignment could improve.

  • Personal Growth & Clarity: The process helps employees recognise their strengths, express concerns in a constructive way, and build a stronger sense of meaning in their work.

EMPLOYER JOURNAL

A parallel 12-week tool designed for leaders and managers to reflect on fairness, inclusion, ethics, and culture.

  • Weekly Prompts: Leaders explore the same weekly themes as employees — but through the lens of decision-making, leadership, and organisational responsibility.

  • Monthly Action Plans: At the end of each month, employers are guided through a structured Action Plan.

    This involves:

    1. Reviewing their own reflections alongside employee deep dives.

    2. Opening dialogue with their team to hear feedback.

    3. Turning insights into concrete, small-scale cultural actions.

  • Culture in Action: These Action Plans mean the journals don’t just stop at reflection — they become a system for taking meaningful, incremental steps to fix culture, build trust, and reduce disengagement.

THE POWER OF ALIGNMENT

Both journals are designed to speak to each other. Employees and leaders are guided by the same themes, ensuring shared language and mutual understanding. When employees complete a Deep Dive, leaders simultaneously work on an Action Plan — creating a natural cycle of reflection → dialogue → action.

PROVEN IN WORKPLACES

UNMUTE isn’t just another wellbeing initiative. It’s grounded in decades of organisational psychology and designed to deliver real cultural change in just 10 minutes a week.

Our framework draws on:

  • Self-Determination Theory – people thrive when their needs for autonomy, competence, and connection are met.

  • Job Characteristics Model – meaningful work and feedback drive motivation and performance.

  • Person–Organisation Fit – alignment between values and culture increases retention and satisfaction.

small steps...

THE RESEARCH

Research shows that disengagement costs Australian businesses billions each year — with 4 in 5 employees feeling disengaged at work (Gallup, 2023).

UNMUTE breaks this cycle with:

  • Weekly guided prompts that spark dialogue and trust.

  • Employee + leader pairing so both voices are heard.

  • Micro-reflection (10 minutes a week) — easy to embed into the rhythm of work.

These small steps compound into stronger engagement, improved morale, and measurable retention benefits.

... BIG OUTCOMES

THE STATS

Workplaces everywhere are struggling with burnout, low morale, and high turnover. Culture is no longer a “nice-to-have” — it’s a survival strategy.

Companies that prioritise engagement see:

  • 21% higher profitability

  • 41% lower absenteeism

  • 59% lower turnover (Gallup, 2022)

UNMUTE gives organisations a structured, scalable way to invest in their people — before disengagement costs them their best talent.
